Yesterday we had an historic event in Eaton County. Over ten Democratic
candidates for County Commission seats held a press conference in the
Commission Room at the courthouse to announce their candidacy! Look for
the announcement in the five community newspapers. Ryan Latourette did a
bang-up job of helping the candidates organize the conference. They all
gave very impressive speeches -- we are very fortunate to have such
strong candidates!
In all, there are Democratic candidates in thirteen of the fifteen Eaton
County commission districts. The candidates plan to help each other
throughout the campaign season, and have expressed delight at having so
many to work with!
In addition to the commission candidates, Victor Braatz of Charlotte announced
as a candidate for 71st District State Rep., and Suzette Royston will be the
Democratic candidate for the 24th District State Senate. Both Victor and Suzette
are residents of Charlotte. You can meet many of the candidates at the Democratic
Party meeting tonight, 7:30 p.m. at the ECDP Hall.
And speaking of meetings, Dems & Friends are meeting a week from Thursday,
May 25, 7:00, also at the ECDP hall. We will have a representative of Governor
Granholm's campaign join us, and are planning to talk about ways we can help
all of our candidates. Bring your thinking cap, and any articles which have
statistics we might use in letter-writing or other persuasion efforts.
