About Us
The Eaton County Dems & Friends Association is dedicated to informing voters on public policy issues.  We hope to serve the community by offering events, information and action on issues and policies which affect each of us.  Our goal is to provide Eaton County residents with the information they need to make an informed decision at the ballot box.                            

Our organization has offered forums presenting views on several hot issues as they were being debated nationally and locally:  the Patriot Act, the Medicare Prescription Drug, No Child Left Behind, Minimum Wage, and Social Security Privatization.                                                                                                  Since our formation in 2003, several of our members have become officeholders within the county, and nearly all have helped to pursue our goal of supporting progressive leadership, including  volunteering for Congressman Mark Schauer and President Barack Obama!

While we work with the Eaton County Democratic Party, we are not a part of that organization. We have observed that while some do not wish to be identified with a particular party, they may wish to be involved with specific issues and specific Democratic candidates. At the outset we strove to encourage nonaffiliated persons to join us, in that we are both Democrats and “Friends” of progressive thought and leadership.   

Our political action committee, “Eaton County Dems & Friends Leadership PAC,” has helped in our efforts to support candidates.  In 2006 Eaton County gained a Democratic majority on the Board of Commissioners, and in 2008 the people of Delta Township elected four Democrats to their seven-member Board of Trustees. 

We welcome new members and hope that we provide an atmosphere in which all interested parties can participate, learn, and grow.  The newly invigorated Eaton County Democratic Party will be taking the lead on many of our prior activities, but we still see a need for both our forums and our PAC.  We encourage you to become involved with both the EC Democratic Party and Dems and Friends – there are coordinated activities and separate activities – providing great opportunities to participate!
